Meghan Markle's Bachelorette Party Is Going To Have Some Very Strict Rules

We must not embarrass The Queen.

The wedding date has been set for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

After announcing their engagement in November, the couple has revealed they will marry on Saturday, May 19 in an hour-long ceremony starting at 7 a.m. EST at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

"The Dean of Windsor will conduct the service and The Archbishop of Canterbury will officiate as the couple make their vows," Kensington Palace announced on Twitter.

“They are looking forward to the day and to being able to share their celebrations with the public and wanted to share the following details about their wedding on May 19th with you,” another statement said.

The two will arrive in a carriage procession from St George's Chapel through Windsor Town returning to Windsor Castle along the Long Walk in order for fans to greet them.

"They hope this short journey will provide an opportunity for more people to come together around Windsor and to enjoy the atmosphere of this special day," the palace said.

Wedding guests will head to the reception at St. George's Hall after the ceremony. “[Harry and Meghan] are hugely grateful for the many good wishes they have received since announcing their engagement,” the palace added. “They are very much looking forward to the day and to being able to share their celebrations with the public.”

You know what they won't share wit the public? Their bachelor and bachelorette parties, known as a stag/hen ‘do respectively.

England’s premiere etiquette expert William Hanson tells Personal Space that Meghan’s affair will definitely be less rowdy than if she were marrying someone outside the Royal Family. The Queen will not stand for insanity.

As Hanson explains to us, although started by the Greeks and Romans, stag and hen parties are a more recent ‘tradition’ and typically were not the done thing amongst the British upper and middle classes.

“A drinks party (sometimes even the night before) would be held instead and would last only a couple of hours maximum,” he says. “Today, the younger members of the royal family now do have some form of stag/hen, although these are still a more restrained affair than the rest of the population.”

In the case of Harry and his colorful partying history, both of their parties will likely be very low key.

“Royal stag parties are usually more low key than people would expect … this is perhaps a good thing,” Hanson says.

In the 1980’s, Charles, The Prince of Wales had a very modest drinks party affair at White’s, a private members’ club in central London, and his brother Prince Andrew had a similar soiree at a private house in Notting Hill. Prince William’s was in Norfolk at a private estate and was reportedly also very quiet.

So where would Harry and Meghan’s likely be held?

“The royal family will always appreciate discretion and will not be wanting to have non-guests know details of the occasion — a refreshing change in the age of over-sharing,” Hanson says. “Prince Harry’s stag party is reportedly going to be abroad, perhaps involving skiing.”

But will he get naked? Just kidding. Unfortunately, those days are over.

The two will likely have separate gatherings, with a small group of friends and family.

“Perhaps with a few speeches, and drinks, food and in some instances some sport of sorts,” Hanson says. “Prince William’s stag party was meant to involve water-skiing but after details were leaked it was changed to be the more subdued affair in Norfolk.”

Guests may well be told that no photos are allowed, but if any do get taken you can be assured that the guest who leaks them will not be invited to anything further. “Again, discretion is the key,” he adds.

According to Hello, the former Suits star revealed that her hen party has already been planned, but that her friends have kept the exact details from her.

Currently in Edinburgh, Scotland, Harry on Tuesday, she told well wishers, “it's sorted but it will be fun.”

But not that fun.
